Inventory Sheet

An inventory sheet is a numbered, itemized list of every item the moving company picks up, including its condition at pickup, used as the reference for loss-and-damage claims after the move.

On long-distance moves, the moving crew creates the inventory at pickup, tagging each item or box with a numbered sticker and noting any pre-existing dents, scratches, or wear in shorthand (CR for crack, BR for broken, SC for scratch, etc.). At delivery, the customer checks each item off as it comes off the truck. Missing or newly damaged items are flagged on the delivery copy of the inventory and become the basis for any claim against the mover.

Local hourly moves typically don't require a formal numbered inventory, but Boston Best Rate Movers will create one on request, especially for moves with high-value items or for customers using full-value protection.
