How Our Hourly Rates Are Calculated

Moving costs depend on several factors. First, the number of movers and the number of trucks you need affects the rate. Second, the date of your move matters. Some days have lower rates, while peak days cost more, and rates differ depending on the time of the month. Third, travel time is counted from the company’s terminal to the customer’s home and back when the move is done.

Finally, the complexity of the job and any extra services also play a role. In short, the cost reflects the time, team, date, and complexity.

Our Hourly Moving Rates

Our services are billed by the hour and include the moving crew, truck, and standard moving equipment. You can choose different crew sizes based on your move’s size to ensure efficiency.

There is a three-hour minimum that applies to all moves, regardless of distance or timing.

What's Included in Your Hourly Rate

Your hourly rate covers professional, trained movers and a fully equipped moving truck. Standard moving tools such as dollies, blankets, straps, and padding are included, along with basic valuation coverage.

Furniture disassembly and reassembly required for safe transport is also included at no extra charge.

How Hourly Billing Works

Billing starts when the crew departs from our terminal (the office) and ends when they return to it. Time is categorized into three phases: travel time (terminal to pickup and back from destination to terminal), labor time (at the pickup and destination), and driving time (between pickup and destination).

We bill in 15-minute increments. While a 3-hour minimum applies to all jobs, any time beyond that is tracked in these increments. Breaks (such as lunch) are deducted from billable time.

Deposits and Payments

A deposit is typically collected at the time of booking to reserve your move date. The remaining balance is paid on move day. Your deposit is applied directly toward your final bill.

We accept cash and major credit cards and approved payment methods.

Local vs. Long-Distance Rate Differences

For local moves under 150 miles, we charge hourly from start to finish. For long-distance moves (150+ miles), we still bill hourly but break the time down clearly. We bill time for traveling from our terminal to you, the time spent loading and unloading, and the travel time returning to our terminal.

Whether your move happens in one day or across multiple days, you pay for all travel and labor hours involved. This ensures you’re only billed for the actual time we work and travel.

Getting an Accurate Moving Estimate

Your estimate’s accuracy depends heavily on the details you provide. The more we know—like your inventory, the type of access (stairs, elevators, narrow hallways), and what floor you’re on—the more precise we can be. Elevators, for instance, may seem convenient but often add waiting time.

Even if you’ve moved before, each move is unique—conditions change, and belongings tend to increase over time. Tight spaces or items that don’t fit may require extra steps like hoisting. Ultimately, our estimate is a well-informed projection—but the final cost will reflect the actual hours needed.

What Can Affect Your Final Price

Unexpected factors such as additional items, difficult access conditions, or extra services requested on move day can change the total cost. For a full breakdown of these variables, we recommend reviewing our detailed page explaining what affects the cost of a move. What affects moving cost
