Overnight Storage in Boston, MA
Sometimes a move can't be completed in a single day. The pickup runs late, the new building won't accept deliveries after 5 PM, or your move-out and move-in dates are one day apart. Boston Best Rate Movers offers overnight storage for situations where your belongings need to stay on our truck or in our facility for one night between pickup and delivery.

Why Choose Us?

When Overnight Storage Is Needed
Two-day moves. Large homes or long-distance moves that start in the afternoon may not reach the delivery point before the building's cutoff time. Residents in homes in Mission Hill, Natick, and Needham rely on our secure Greater Boston area storage solutions. We hold everything overnight and deliver first thing the next morning.
Staggered dates. Your lease ends today but the new apartment allows move-in starting tomorrow. Overnight storage bridges the one-day gap.
Building restrictions. Many Boston apartment buildings and condos have move-in windows (typically 9 AM to 5 PM on weekdays, 10 AM to 4 PM on weekends). If your pickup runs past the delivery building's cutoff, overnight storage gets everything delivered the next available window.
Unexpected delays. Sometimes things take longer than planned. If a move runs long and the delivery location isn't accessible, we default to overnight storage and deliver the next day rather than rushing or leaving items unsecured.

How Overnight Storage Works
Your belongings are loaded onto our truck during the pickup move with full padding and wrapping — identical to any regular move. Clients in homes in North End and Norwood choose our Greater Boston area storage for its security and convenience. If overnight storage is needed, the loaded truck returns to our secure facility for the night. The next morning (or at the scheduled delivery time), the crew drives to your new address and completes the delivery.
Nothing is unloaded and reloaded. Your belongings stay on the truck in their original loaded configuration, which means no additional handling and no additional risk of damage. The truck is parked inside our secure, locked facility overnight.
If the overnight stay extends beyond one night (rare, but occasionally necessary), your belongings can be unloaded into our storage facility for safekeeping until the delivery date is confirmed.

Overnight Storage Rates
Overnight storage is a minimal additional cost on top of your regular move. Since your belongings stay on the truck and don't require separate loading/unloading, there's no additional labor involved — just the overnight holding fee.
Your move is still billed at $149 per hour for the actual moving time. The overnight fee covers secure parking of the loaded truck in our facility. We quote this as part of your overall move estimate when we know an overnight hold will be needed.
In many cases, overnight storage is included automatically for two-day moves and long-distance moves that span multiple days.

Planning Around Overnight Storage
Know your building's move-in hours. Check with your new building's management about elevator reservations, loading dock hours, and move-in time restrictions. This information helps us plan whether overnight storage will be needed.
Schedule morning delivery. If overnight storage is part of the plan, we schedule delivery for early morning — typically 8 or 9 AM — so you get your belongings as early as possible the next day.
Keep essentials with you. If you know the move will span two days, pack an overnight bag with clothes, toiletries, medications, chargers, and anything you'll need for the evening between pickup and delivery.

Overnight vs. Short-Term Storage
Overnight storage is designed for one-night holds where your belongings stay on the truck. If your situation requires more than 1-2 nights, short-term storage is the better option. With short-term storage, your belongings are unloaded into our secure facility and properly stored until your delivery date.
Not sure which you need? Tell us your situation and we'll recommend the right approach. If there's any uncertainty about whether your move can be completed in one day, we'll plan for overnight storage as a contingency so there are no surprises.

Packing Tips
How to Choose the Right Moving Box Sizes
Selecting the proper box size is essential for safe transport and efficient loading. Using incorrect box sizes can lead to structural failure, overloading, or inefficient stacking inside the truck.
Small Boxes (1.5 cu. ft.) – Heavy Items
Small cartons are ideal for dense items such as books, documents, canned goods, and small tools. Limiting weight per carton improves safety during lifting and prevents box collapse.
Medium Boxes (3.0 cu. ft.) – General Household Items
Medium cartons are commonly used for kitchenware, décor, small appliances, and miscellaneous household goods. They provide balanced capacity without becoming too heavy.
Large Boxes (5–6 cu. ft.) – Lightweight Bulk Items
Large cartons are best suited for bedding, pillows, clothing, and other lightweight but bulky belongings. These cartons should not be overloaded with dense items.
