Why Choose Us?

Professional Unloading for Rental Trucks and Containers
Unloading is where DIY moves fall apart. Whether in the Westwood area or homes in Brookline, our Greater Boston community crews handle the heavy lifting so you don't have to. After a long drive or a long day, the last thing you want is to carry a sofa up three flights of stairs in an unfamiliar building. That's when furniture gets dropped, walls get dinged, and floors get scratched. Our unloading crews arrive fresh and ready to work, with all the equipment needed to protect your new home and get everything placed correctly.
We unload rental trucks (U-Haul, Penske, Budget, Enterprise), portable containers (PODS, Zippy Shell, 1-800-PACK-RAT), freight trailers, shipping containers, and storage units. Whatever vehicle or container your belongings are in, our crew empties it efficiently and safely.
Every unloading job includes floor and doorframe protection at your new home, furniture reassembly (beds, desks, shelving, dining tables), heavy item placement in the exact location you specify, and box delivery to the correct room based on your labels.

How Our Unloading Service Works
You tell us when and where to meet. Clients in the Jamaica Plain area and homes in Lexington trust our Greater Boston team to get the job done right. Our crew arrives with equipment: dollies, hand trucks, furniture pads, floor runners, doorframe guards, and tools for furniture reassembly. The crew leader does a quick walkthrough of the truck or container to understand the scope, then we get to work.
We unload systematically: large furniture first, placed in its designated room and position. Then boxes, delivered room by room based on your labeling. Beds are reassembled. Dressers and desks are positioned. Heavy items like sofas and entertainment centers are placed exactly where you want them — we'll rearrange until you're satisfied.
If you just arrived from a long-distance drive and haven't seen the new place yet, the crew leader can walk the apartment or house with you first to figure out furniture placement before we start carrying things in.

Unloading Help Rates in Boston
Unloading help starts at $149 per hour for two movers. You provide the truck or container; we provide the crew and equipment.
Studio or 1-bedroom unload: 2 movers, 1.5-3 hours. 2-bedroom unload: 2 movers, 3-4 hours. 3-bedroom house or large apartment: 3 movers, 4-6 hours. Large house with basement and garage: 3-4 movers, 6-8+ hours.
Unloading times are typically shorter than loading because our crew focuses only on carrying in and placing — no wrapping or disassembly needed. However, reassembly (beds, desks, shelving) and detailed furniture placement can add time.
No stair fees, no heavy-item surcharges. Request a free unloading estimate.
Common Unloading Scenarios We Handle
You drove a rental truck from another state. After driving 4-10 hours, the last thing you want is to unload a 26-foot truck up a Boston walkup. We meet you at the new address and handle everything while you return the truck.
Your PODS container was delivered. Container companies deliver the container to your address but don't unload it. We empty the container, carry everything inside, reassemble furniture, and place boxes by room. The container company picks up the empty container when you're done.
You're moving out of storage. You stored items during a lease gap or renovation and now you're ready to move them into your new place. We pick up from the storage unit, transport to the new address, and unload. This is a full-service move (not unload-only) and includes a truck. Learn about our moving and storage services.
You had items shipped via freight. Commercial freight deliveries often drop items in your driveway or building lobby but won't carry them inside or upstairs. We handle the last mile — from the delivery point into your home.

Getting Ready for Your Unloading Crew
Have parking secured. The truck or container needs to be as close to your entrance as possible. In Boston neighborhoods, this may require a parking permit. If you need guidance, call us and we'll help you figure out the permit process for your specific area.
Have the new home accessible. Make sure doors are unlocked, elevators are reserved (if applicable), and building management knows movers are coming. In large buildings, you may need to schedule a freight elevator and submit a COI (certificate of insurance) — we provide COIs on request.
Know where everything goes. The faster you can direct the crew (“bedroom furniture in the back left room, kitchen boxes in the kitchen”), the faster the unload goes. If your boxes are labeled by room, even better.
Have furniture placement figured out. Our crew will place furniture exactly where you want it and rearrange if needed. But having a rough idea before they start saves time and means fewer adjustments.

Packing Tips
How to Choose the Right Moving Box Sizes
Selecting the proper box size is essential for safe transport and efficient loading. Using incorrect box sizes can lead to structural failure, overloading, or inefficient stacking inside the truck.
Small Boxes (1.5 cu. ft.) – Heavy Items
Small cartons are ideal for dense items such as books, documents, canned goods, and small tools. Limiting weight per carton improves safety during lifting and prevents box collapse.
Medium Boxes (3.0 cu. ft.) – General Household Items
Medium cartons are commonly used for kitchenware, décor, small appliances, and miscellaneous household goods. They provide balanced capacity without becoming too heavy.
Large Boxes (5–6 cu. ft.) – Lightweight Bulk Items
Large cartons are best suited for bedding, pillows, clothing, and other lightweight but bulky belongings. These cartons should not be overloaded with dense items.
