Furniture Storage in Boston, MA
Need to store furniture between moves, during a renovation, or while downsizing? Boston Best Rate Movers provides secure furniture storage in our climate-monitored facility. Your furniture is picked up by our crew, stored safely, and delivered when you're ready — all handled by one company with one point of contact.

Why Choose Us?

Climate-Monitored Storage for All Furniture Types
Furniture is particularly vulnerable to temperature and humidity fluctuations. Residents in Wakefield, the Waltham area, and homes in Watertown rely on our secure Greater Boston storage solutions. Wood warps, leather cracks, fabric develops mildew, and upholstery attracts moisture damage when stored in uncontrolled environments. Our storage facility maintains consistent temperature and humidity levels year-round, protecting your furniture regardless of Boston's seasonal extremes.
We store all types of residential and commercial furniture: sofas, sectionals, beds and mattresses, dressers, dining tables and chairs, desks, bookshelves, entertainment centers, patio furniture, antique furniture, and commercial office furniture. Each piece is wrapped in protective moving blankets or stretch wrap before being placed in storage.
Your furniture is stored in a dedicated space — not co-mingled with other customers' belongings. This means no risk of damage from someone else's items shifting or being moved around your furniture.

How Furniture Storage Works
You have two options. Combined moving + storage: Our crew picks up your furniture during your move, transports it to storage, and delivers it to your new address when you're ready. Clients in West Roxbury and the Weston area choose our Greater Boston area storage for its security and convenience. You pay for the pickup move, monthly storage, and the delivery move. Storage only: If your furniture is already accessible, we pick it up, transport it to storage, and hold it until you schedule delivery.
Either way, your furniture is inventoried at intake so we know exactly what's in storage. When you're ready for delivery, you schedule a date and our crew loads your furniture from storage and delivers it to the new location with full placement and reassembly.
Need to add or remove items from storage? We can coordinate partial pickups or deliveries during your storage period. Just give us advance notice.

Furniture Storage Rates
Storage is billed monthly based on the volume of furniture stored. Moving services (pickup and delivery) are billed at our standard rate of $149 per hour for two movers and a truck.
We provide a combined estimate that covers: the initial pickup move, monthly storage fees for the estimated duration, and the final delivery move. This gives you a complete picture of costs upfront.
Short-term storage (under 3 months) and long-term storage (3+ months) are available. No long-term contracts required — you can extend or shorten your storage period as your plans change.

Common Furniture Storage Scenarios
Lease gap storage. Your old lease ends before the new one starts. We store your furniture for days or weeks until you're ready to move in. Extremely common around September 1st in Boston.
Home renovation. Gutting the kitchen or refinishing floors? Store furniture to protect it from dust, paint, and contractor traffic, then deliver it when the work is done.
Staging a home for sale. Remove excess furniture to make rooms look larger and more appealing to buyers. Store it until after the sale closes.
Downsizing. Moving from a 4-bedroom house to a 2-bedroom apartment? Store the furniture you're not ready to part with while you figure out what fits and what goes.

Preparing Furniture for Storage
Clean everything. Wipe down wood surfaces, vacuum upholstery, and clean leather before storage. Dirt and stains can set permanently over time in storage.
Disassemble when possible. Beds, dining tables, and sectionals store more efficiently when broken down. Our crew handles disassembly during pickup and reassembly during delivery.
Empty all drawers and cabinets. Items inside furniture can shift during transport and cause interior damage. Remove everything and pack it in boxes.
Don't wrap furniture in plastic for long-term storage. Plastic traps moisture and causes mildew. We use breathable moving blankets that protect against dust and scratches while allowing air circulation.

Packing Tips
How to Choose the Right Moving Box Sizes
Selecting the proper box size is essential for safe transport and efficient loading. Using incorrect box sizes can lead to structural failure, overloading, or inefficient stacking inside the truck.
Small Boxes (1.5 cu. ft.) – Heavy Items
Small cartons are ideal for dense items such as books, documents, canned goods, and small tools. Limiting weight per carton improves safety during lifting and prevents box collapse.
Medium Boxes (3.0 cu. ft.) – General Household Items
Medium cartons are commonly used for kitchenware, décor, small appliances, and miscellaneous household goods. They provide balanced capacity without becoming too heavy.
Large Boxes (5–6 cu. ft.) – Lightweight Bulk Items
Large cartons are best suited for bedding, pillows, clothing, and other lightweight but bulky belongings. These cartons should not be overloaded with dense items.
