The I-90 Corridor: How Boston ⇄ Western Mass Moves Run
Almost every Western Massachusetts move is a Mass Pike move. Springfield is about 90 minutes from our Waltham headquarters; Northampton and the Five College area about an hour and three quarters; Pittsfield and the Berkshires two and a quarter. That makes nearly all of Western Mass a single-day, same-crew job: load in the morning, drive the Pike, unload the same afternoon — no overnight holds, no freight transfers, no second crew you've never met.
Pricing is our standard hourly model: $149/hr for a 2-mover crew, $179/hr for 3, $219/hr for 4 — 3-hour minimum, 15-minute increments, and the drive time quoted up front so the door-to-door number is in writing before move day. We never price long-distance Massachusetts moves by weight or cubic feet, and there are no stair fees regardless of how many flights your triple-decker or hill-town farmhouse has.

College Towns, Cities, and Hill Towns — Different Moves, Same Crew
The Pioneer Valley runs on the academic calendar. Northampton, Amherst, and the Five College area generate heavy May–June move-outs and August–September move-ins, and those weeks book early — students, faculty, and families all competing for the same dates. If you're moving on the academic clock, two to three weeks of lead time keeps your options open.
Springfield, Chicopee, Holyoke, and Westfield are classic New England city moves: multi-family homes, walk-ups, and mill-building conversions with freight elevators that need reserving. The Berkshires — Pittsfield, Lenox Dale, Housatonic, and the surrounding hill towns — bring farmhouses with steep narrow stairs, long gravel driveways, and winter weather that we plan crews and timing around from November through March. Every one of these is regular work for us, and every job gets the same standard: full padding and wrapping, floor protection at both ends, and a crew leader managing the day.

Why a Boston-Based Crew for a Western Mass Move
If your move touches Greater Boston on either end — relocating out to the Valley, moving back east for work, sending a student west in September — a Boston-based crew means the Boston end of your move is handled by people who do tight urban loading every single day, and the Western end is a clean highway run. One company accountable for the whole job beats coordinating two local movers and hoping the handoff goes well.
We're licensed for intrastate and interstate work (USDOT #1718049, MDPU #31391), fully insured, and staffed exclusively by full-time, trained W-2 crews — no day labor. 33,158+ moves completed since 2002, 817+ Google reviews, and storage in Waltham if your closing dates don't line up.

Western Massachusetts Moving FAQs
How much does it cost to move from Boston to Springfield or Northampton?
It's the same hourly rates as our local moves — $149–$219/hr by crew size, 3-hour minimum, 15-minute increments — with the Pike drive time included in the up-front quote. A typical 2-bedroom Boston-to-Springfield move runs roughly $1,000–$1,600 door-to-door; Northampton and the Five College area slightly more for the extra drive. No weight-based pricing, ever.
Can you do a Boston ⇄ Berkshires move in one day?
Yes — Pittsfield is about 2¼ hours down the Pike, so Berkshires moves load in Greater Boston in the morning and unload in the Berkshires the same afternoon (or the reverse). Larger homes may warrant a 4-mover crew to keep the day compact; we'll recommend the right crew size in your quote.
Do you handle student and faculty moves to the Five Colleges?
Constantly — Northampton, Amherst, and the surrounding towns are a regular route, especially in late May, June, August, and September. Academic-calendar weeks fill fast, so book two to three weeks ahead. We handle small one-bedroom loads as comfortably as full households.
What about winter moves to the hill towns?
We move in Western Mass all winter. For hill towns and the Berkshires we watch weather windows, plan for unplowed private roads and gravel driveways, and equip crews accordingly. If a storm forces a shift, we reschedule with you at no charge rather than risk your belongings.
