Self-Pack Move
A self-pack move is a move where the customer packs their own boxes — only the loading, transport, and unloading are handled by the moving crew.
Self-pack moves are the cheapest standard pricing model because the customer absorbs the most time-intensive part of a move (packing). The customer is responsible for obtaining packing materials, packing every box correctly, and labeling boxes by destination room. Items packed by the customer are generally covered only at released-value rates (60¢/lb) — full-value protection on customer-packed boxes is harder to obtain because the mover can't verify the packing quality.
Boston Best Rate Movers' default $149/hr rate is set up for self-pack moves: the crew shows up move day, loads, transports, unloads. Customers typically save 30-60% versus full-service.
